My Erasmus experience in Portugal
The city of seven hills
My name is Laura Gonzalez. This is the last Erasmus experience of these two year course in la Escola del Treball vocational school and it has taken place at the university of Atlantica in Lisbon from February to May. I will divide this article in two parts, first I will talk about the university and then about my personal experience.
As I said, this time I was at the university of Atlantica, located in Barcarena which is about 30 minutes away from Lisbon, it is in a very beautiful place surrounded by nature. The subjects have been: Online open innovation and SMM, technologies for consumers needs and Big Data Analysis. The three subjects were very interesting, especially, in my opinion, technologies for consumers needs which consisted of developing a company in groups with an innovative technology. We usually had classes from Monday to Wednesday so we had a lot of time to enjoy the good weather and the city.
My personal experience has been very good. Not like in the Netherlands, here I lived in a flat in the Alfama neighborhood, with 5 friends from the course. Living in the center of the capital has made it very easy to move around, we have been able to enjoy beaches like Cascais and cities like Sintra which is less than an hour away from the capital. As it was our last Erasmus experience, we tried to make the most of it by visiting other places in Portugal such as Oporto or Peniche. I would also like to point out that this experience has been very rewarding and enriching because, unlike the others, I have lived with 4 Italians, which has made me get to know their culture and learn a new language.
My last Erasmus stay has been a good end to finish this two year course full of happiness and learning. I have loved Lisbon, both academically because of the good university and because it is a city that has everything; beach, metropolitan atmosphere and good weather.
